Model Board
This board shows all the signals and switches connected to the tower.
The tower is located in the upper right hand corner marked "BOWIE." Tracks are numbered east to west (downward) 1,2,3, and 4. (Track 4 doesn't exist today.) Track 1 branches off the dotted line (non electrified) track to the Pope's Creek Secondary.
Lines connecting the tracks are switches with the switch number above the line. For example, if switch 11 is in the normal (straight) position, a train coming off the secondary will continue onto to Track 1. If switch 11 is in the reverse (diversion) position, a train coming off the secondary will go to Track 2. (For more information about switches, go to the 2015 Vantage Point album and read "What is Normal?")
Signals are even numbered and have a green light next to the number. When illuminated, the light means the signal is displayed, but doesn't indicate the signal aspect. When signal 10L is displayed, the signal is clear for the straight movement and medium clear for the reverse movement.
Signal 2R means lever #2 is moved to the right for southbound trains and Signal 2L means lever #2 is moved to the left for northbound trains.
There are two blue lights each on tracks 2 and 3 directly under "BOWIE." These are current of traffic lights. When the blue light on the right is illuminated, the current of traffic is southbound and signals can only be thrown in the southbound direction. When the blue light on the left is illuminated, signals can only be thrown in the northbound direction.
Yellow lights indicate the track is occupied and the signal has been "knocked down" to stop.
