Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad Signal
Each railroad has its own signals. This signal came from the B&O.
There's a lunar white signal above the face. The face has two vertical green lights and two horizontal red lights. There are sockets for four other bulbs but this signal doesn't need them. The bulbs in a right diagonal would be orange and the bulbs in the left diagonal would be lunar white. Some signals have a lunar white light below the face.
CSX, the conglomerate that took over the B&O is replacing this style of signal with Seaboard Coast Line style signals. Union Station, Washington, DC may be the last bastion of B&O signals.
The signal possibilities are:
Lunar white and green lights: CLEAR. Proceed at maximum authorized speed listed in the employee timetable.
Green lights only: SLOW CLEAR. Proceed at slow speed.
Red lights only: STOP
Red lights with lunar white: STOP and Proceed. Stop, then proceed at Restricted Speed until the entire train has cleared all interlocking and spring switches.
