Freeport

Looking east, a train to Penn Station approaches. Port Tower used to control the interlocking. It is now remotely controlled from Valley Tower at Valley Stream.

There are layover tracks to the left. Some crews used to begin their workday at Freeport taking a train out of the yard. In the Oct 2002 assignment book, no trains layover overnight at Freeport, presumably because they now layover at West Side Yard.

1E means Track 1 in the east direction. Signal 2E is on the other side of the platform for trains going east Track 2.
