    Except for this bridge, this was a four-track active line when I was a kid. Long sections were built for six tracks, which is how the New York, Westchester and Boston came to share the right of way south of E. 177th Street to the Harlem Terminal.

    I finally got a chance to ride this line in the 1970s; hanging out in the vestibule of the last car crossing the Hell Gate Bridge at sunset was an experience to be remembered.
