2018 Hartford LineTrip
The Trip Committee ran this trip on September 15 after years of dormancy due to low ridership.
We rode from Grand Central Terminal to connect with Amtrak #460 Shuttle Train to Springfield. After lunch, we returned on Amtrak #57, Vermonter.
CT Department of Transportation restored the second track between Cedar Interlocking (MP 7.0) and Hartford (MP 36.6). (Amtrak removed portions of the second track, creating passing sidings, to save on maintenance costs.)
Work will progress through 2019 to restore the second track sections
between Hartford and Field Interlocking (MP 54.7). The rest of the railroad north of Field is already double tracked.
