RF&P Caboose

Photographed by William Armstrong on the grounds of the Tredegar Iron Works. This iron works was the major producer of armaments for the Confederacy during the Civil War, and had been a locomotive builder. It produced a limited supply of iron and steel parts for railroad equipment during the war, but most of its production was allocated to armaments. Tredegar continued operating until the 1950s. Today it is a federally maintained museum and visitor's center.
